Therapy for Adults & Couples

I offer short term as well as long term therapy for adults and couples. The length of treatment really depends on what you desire in the counseling or therapeutic relationship. For individuals seeking assistance in advancing their careers or targeting a specific behavior or issue, a short term approach may be best. For individuals and couples seeking to improve their relationships, understand their emotions and identify and live by their values, a longer term commitment is ideal. I treat individuals with anxiety, depression, and trauma and am passionate about working with adults who want to improve their relationships and live in harmony with their values to live a life true to their authentic selves. Not sure what your truest values are? That can be part of our work.

For LDS or Mormon clients seeking a therapist to work through issues related to faith, sexuality, and spiritual transitions, I have many years of experience working with the LDS community.

Maternal Well Being

The decision to have a child is huge and life changing. Even when approached with joy, the biological, chemical and social changes that pregnancy or adoption, child birth and parenting bring can present challenges. The transition for motherhood may also present an opportunity to reflect and evaluate your relationship with your own mother, and think about how you want to parent differently than the way you were parented. For some women, their own experiences as children may present a stumbling block to having their own children. Many women feel a loss of identity or self and others may experience depression and anxiety. Too many women have traumatic birth experiences and feel overlooked when the baby comes.

I provide support to women at every stage of motherhood - mothers-to-be, pregnant, and women in the post-partum period. My goal is to improve your connection to your baby, partner, and self so that you can be the mother you want to be.

Parent Coaching & Support

I offer parent coaching to parents who are experiencing challenges in parenting. I work with couples who are working to have a better relationship and develop joint parenting strategies. The sessions often focus on identifying your parenting style, understanding your child’s emotional cues, establishing routine and structure and parenting from a place of positivity to ensure a loving relationship with your child. For parents who come from an abusive or harsh background, I can offer support in ensuring that you are able to parent your own child and break the patterns in your family of origin. Sessions are typically held several weeks apart to allow for time for the parent to implement strategies and then receive feedback.

I also provide parent coaching to parents of children - including adult children - with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities. My focus in these coaching sessions is on psychoeducation about your child’s diagnosis, parenting from a place of positivity, and recognizing utilizing your child’s strengths.

For individuals seeking OPWDD services, I can write a bio-psychosocial to assist in obtaining OPWDD eligibility, as well as offer consulting advice on navigating that process.
